A few weeks ago I teamed up with some amazing local vendors for a fun evening outdoors under the apple blossoms. It was heaven, pure photography heaven! I can’t even begin to describe to you how amazing the set up was….I mean just look at this!!!
The florals are the creation of Jessica at Le Jardin Floral. When I met with Jessica and described to her what I was thinking she immediately brought out a picture of that gorgeous vintage china and I knew that was it. From there out everything came from the design on the plate. When I first saw the bouquet I literally got chills….it was so gorgeous. Jessica said it was her dream bouquet. Filled with some of my favorite flowers, including pink sweet peas, white hydrangeas and pink peonies it quickly be came my dream as well. Some other interesting flowers in there…pink rice flower, cotton, ranunculus, cockscomb and king pink protea. Every inch of it was perfection!!
Brooke from The Yellow Rose was our event planner. She not only coordinated the use of all of the amazing dresses (thank you Mestad’s for letting us use them) but also a majority of the vendors as well. She was Jessica’s right hand girl setting everything up, and was my sounding board for everything I wanted to incorporate. I couldn’t have imagined doing this shoot without her…..so I can just about imagine how awesome she would be on a wedding day. Brides to be…you need an event planner…trust me!
Oh the dresses….this dress was what I had in my head when I thought about the type of dress I wanted for the shoot….simple, romantic and a little vintage. The open tie up back is my favorite! Oh and our models…how adorable and gorgeous are they?!?!!
The cake….the most gorgeous piece of confection I have ever seen. Dawn from Top Tier Delights created a masterpiece for us!
Hair was the work of the amazing Amber Berry at r!ah Hair Studio I wanted a side braid and when she told me the model’s hair wasn’t thick enough for a side braid, I almost cried….but then she said she could do something similar…it just wouldn’t be an actual braid. I trusted her and she created something better than a side braid….I don’t even know what to call it….but it was so perfect!
Make-up is the work of Kristin Soyring, she just did her thing….gorgeous lashes and all! A soft, romantic look was just what we needed!
We actually photographed four different dresses as they each added a different quality to the shoot. Although the first one was what I had in my head, Brooke thought this pink beauty was just what we needed….she was right. It added color that brought out the blush tones in the trees and really was the “wow factor” we needed! So in love….
This dress added the romantic feel that I wanted. The veil….amazing!!! Again, Brooke’s idea! Brides, you may think a long veil is cumbersome and not functional…but for real….it photographs in the most amazing way! Get one…even if it’s just for portraits!!
Crystal Layland of Crystal Layland Events created the amazing paper for our shoot. I found a vintage floral paper that matched that china and she created a set that was vintage, modern and romantic all in one!
As the sun started going down….we brought out our final dress. I knew when we were planning the shoot I wanted to take advantage of some interesting lighting. When Jessica mentioned the chandelier…I knew we needed cafe lights strung between the trees as well. And Brooke knew we needed this dress, in all it’s sparkly goodness!!
I loved how the lighting transformed the set when the sun went down.
Thank you again to all the vendors for their talents. I Loved working with each of you and creating something so beautiful to inspire brides as they plan their wedding! Also a huge thank you to my ever so fabulous assistant Lauren, her talent behind the camera continues to grow and amaze me. And of course a huge thank you to my husband, who always helps me with the “structural” parts of my shoots, the hauling, the generators, the setting up, the taking down….it wouldn’t happen without him!
